As usual, it's been a while! I'm just trying to keep up (with Lola Pepper)!! Here's what's been happening in my world...
GERMANY
My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Germany for the last week of October. I made a special appearance as a surprise guest entertainer at the 70th birthday party for one of the founders of an international company called Flottweg. What an honor it was to be invited!
We stayed just outside of Munich, in a Bavarian town called Landshut. We were very well taken care of during our stay. Our German friends are so hospitable! The authentic Bavarian fare was delicious. I would call it comfort food, but I was so uncomfortably full the entire time, I'll just say that it was the type food that could keep you warm all winter long. We visited Munich for a day - parked the car at the BMW headquarters/museum, took the train to the Glockenspiel, had a beer at the ORIGINAL Hofbrauhaus, ate lunch in the window of a restaurant over looking the action packed square by the opera house, and finally went to the top of the tower at the Olympic Park, where we could see the whole city and the Alps in the distance. The next day, we went to the Alps, enjoying a visit to the lake at ground level and then taking a bus ride to the top of a mountain, where Hitler's famous "Eagle's Nest" has been turned into a restaurant/tourist hotspot. Oh, and did I mention that we each got to drive a BMW M5 reeeeally fast on the Autobahn heading to/from the Alps?!!
It was a short trip, but we packed it full of activity and purpose. We might have stayed longer, but we missed little Lola too terribly much! (Plus, I only had about a week's worth of pumped milk saved in the freezer for her!) She was left in the capable hands of her grandmother, "MaBelle" and great-grandfather, "Nonno."
What an amazing and unforgettable trip! THANK YOU to everyone at Flottweg who helped make the experience possible.
RECORDING
Well, it's going slowly, but at least the wheels are in motion!! I am still in the beginning stages of the album process. I am determined to release a sophomore album. My goal is 2015. I hope it will be sooner, but I have to be realistic and I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. Being a mom really IS a full time job!! Unfortunately, this means that my recording time must take a backseat. I'm doing what I can and every moment in the studio with Craig feels great!!
PERFORMING
I am really loving my gig at Seasons 52. Come see me sometime! I'm there every week WEDNESDAY-SATURDAY 5-10pm.
GREEN TIP OF THE MOMENT
This is coming at you a little bit late, but you can keep it in mind for next year. Don't waste your pumpkin!! When you are in the thick of your carving craze, set aside the seeds and big chunks of pumpkin "meat" (not the stringy stuff) into two separate piles. You can bake the seeds in the oven until they're crispy - whatever flavor you like (I do half cayenne+salt and half sugar+cinnamon). Boil or steam the pumpkin meat (no skin), mash it, and then use it for baking pumpkin pie (or I like to make pumpkin chili - just substitute 1/2 the tomatoes for pumpkin and I SWEAR even the pickiest eaters would never know there's pumpkin in the pot)!
THANKS FOR READING!!
